Tasting the greater and lesser known wine gems from the Iberian peninsula
This month we welcome Jeremy Shaw to take us through some greater and lesser known gems from the Iberian peninsula paired with the stories of their visits and friends there.
Jeremy and Marisa Espeso set up Iberian Wine Tours in 2010 to share the fun they had exploring Spain and Portugal in search of fine food and wine. Jeremy’s love of wine was inspired by a Bordelais uncle and a job at Steven Spurrier’s Academie du Vin in Paris. Marisa worked at the Spanish Embassy’s Wine and Food office in London. Simon McGookin joined soon afterwards and the team and destinations have grown over the 15 years of the business. Tours are now run across Europe and South America and they will be running their first tour to Australia later this year. However, their spiritual heart remains on the Iberian peninsula which is where the wines for this tasting are from.
We shall be tasting some gems from Valdeorras, Sierra de Salamanca and the Douro including a fine Colheita amongst others
